The Scoop
In order to make Daphne as easy to use as possible, we've made a deal with a company that holds the copyrights to several laserdisc games, Digital Leisure. They sell several DVD's that let you play some laserdisc games on a DVD player (or on a PC with a DVD drive).
Digital Leisure has given you permission to auto-download these games using Daphne as long as you prove that you own them by inserting a DVD.
Note that Digital Leisure DVDs are not required to use the new version of Daphne. If you have captured your own laserdisc or have a real laserdisc and player, you can still use these methods by changing the laserdisc options in the game settings. While these methods are functional and supported by the Daphne software, official tech support for anything other than the Digital Leisure auto-download is no longer offered by the Daphne community. In other words, if you want to get Daphne working using a non-recommended method, you are on your own.
Auto-downloadable Games
The Digital Leisure games that Daphne will automatically download are:
- Dragon's Lair
- Dragon's Lair II: Timewarp
- Space Ace
- Thayer's Quest
Which DVD's To Buy?
You can buy these games on Ebay, in some retail stores, and directly from Digital Leisure. Digital Leisure marks some DVD-Videos as Playstation 2 or XBox compatible, which basically just means that they will play in any DVD player.
Dragon's Lair
Try the 20th anniversary edition.
This single boxset will allow you to play Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair II: Timewarp, and Space Ace with Daphne.
About Dragon's Lair HD (High Definition): Digital Leisure also sells a High Definition version of Dragon's Lair called Dragon's Lair HD on PC DVD-Rom. Daphne does not work with this version and we have no plans to make it work at this time.
Dragon's Lair II: Timewarp
