Hi Matt
I just installed my DL Trilogy. Keep in mind, I'm a newbie to all this arcade stuff. I plugged everything in and all I'm getting is smeared rainbow colored screen. The game appears to be playing. I hear sound and can play it semi/blindly. I have an LDP 2000 with Merlin. My hi-tech is still installed and powered. I unplugged it and saw no difference. The auto detect is chosing LDP 1450. I cycled though the different players and still the same problem. I did notice I can't manually select 'other.' It didn't light up. The game is playing fine via my LDP 2000
Any suggestions?

I am guessing that Matt will say
EDIT: Nope, I take it back. My guess might not have been good, actually. But ultimately, Merlin + Hi-Tech + Dexter is going to be a recipe for trouble. It is strongly advised to eventually stop using the hi-tech card and upgrade to Merlin-Dx firmware.

This looks like a sync problem to me (although the colors themselves are puzzling since I would expect to see colors from the expected video frames and those do not look familiar).
For fun, I started fiddling with these adjustment 'knobs' on my G07. I only tried the one on the far right (I have no idea what it does) but I was able to get my monitor to get out of sync kinda like what you see on your screen. I'd take a picture of your 'knobs' before making any changes, and then try adjusting all of them to see if you can get any desired result.

Matt,
I shot out a few emails with pics. Your suggestion was a good one, but no fix. It sort of synched things, but the pic images were barely visible...but better. Again, it's working great with my LDP.
Shoukd I try a new ribbon cable! I emailed a pic.
Thanks

I wouldn't bother with the ribbon cable. You can prove that that is not the problem by putting Dexter in VP-931 or LDP-1450 mode, unplugging the ribbon cable, and just letting the "disc" play.
And just to make sure, you did try adjusting this part right? It is a pretty obvious culprit based on the rainbow pattern that you are seeing.

It might be helpful to see what these 'barely visible' images are currently looking like. You should be able to attach pictures to your posts here like I am doing.stratus72 wrote:It sort of synched things, but the pic images were barely visible...but better.

This is the only thing I didn't adjust.

I'm not exactly sure what that coil does on the Electrohome NTSC decoder. Coils like that are commonly used in horizontal sync circuits, so it's probably worth giving it a nudge if you've got a tool that will fit it. A small flathead or a hex key should do the trick.
(Note that using a metal tool alters the performance of the coil, which makes it a little trickier to adjust.)

I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Yep, I baught a set of plastic tv repair tools from Amazon...$2.00. They worked great so far.
