I had been wondering if others have had ideas of taking misc animation and/or live video and making a make-shift laserdisc game.. and to my delight, I have stumbled onto this site and found this message board!

Im ready to start pulling video clips into the PC with my digital cam, but am wonding how the 'rom' programming is done. (to program the movements, scene selection, etc...)

I am very new to all this, but my interest in this is VERY GREAT.

Any suggestions on how to start learing the programming side of this? I have so many ideas, but want to find out how to create something very, VERY basic - just to get something to come together.

It seems as there is much discussion on the collecting of video here,
but has anyone compiled a small sample of gameplay to see if and how
this is possible? (Like a 10 second clip for example, containing a very few number of movements)

oh, it definitely is possible.

You could start by examining how the seektest.cpp code works. It doesn't emulate any game but it does control a laserdisc player and accept input. Someone who knew C could then modify it and make a game out of it.
