Hi all

New to this forum, and have finally managed to get Daphne up and running. Awesome program and kudos to all involved! :D

I have two questions about Badlands that I hope someone can help with:

In the arcade version of Badlands you were able to hit a 'pass' button to skip the opening scenes and get straight to the start of the game. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I can't seem to find this setting in Daphne. Is this option available? :-?

Secondly, there is a message that comes up at the start saying that "Badlands suffers from timing issues, sound etc". As far as I can tell it plays fine! :D As I would like to build a dedicated cabinet, is there any way to 'turn off' this message?

Thanks in advance!

Wow, thanks for the quick reply Borf!

That's one problem solved. :D

I suspect the other problem is a bit more involved... 8)

Add -noissues to the command line to turn off the warning message

Oh Oh - spoke to soon...

Message is still appearing. My command line is currently:

'Badlands vldp -framefile c:\daphneframefile\badlands.txt -noissues -fullscreen -preset 2 -bank 0 00000000 -bank 1 10000010'

Does the -noissues parameter have to be placed at at a certain place in the command line?

Thanks...

Well, it was added somewhat recently, so it may not be in the build you are using.

What version was this available in? And where can I get it??

If you come to the chatroom, someone there should be able to point you in the right direction.

I only want to keep 'stable' builds available for download on this site, which is why there is nothing newer available yet.

OK, I either suck at IRC (never used it before) or nobody wanted to talk to me :(

Can somebody point me in the right direction, or maybe PM me with the version I need and where to get it?

As an aside, has anyone that has used this mystery version of Daphne experienced any issues with it?

As I am looking to only run Badlands (in this version), I am not concerned if other games have problems... 8)

Thanks in advance

I saw that you come in, but I wasn't there when you visited. If you wait longer, you increase the chances of being able to talk with someone.

So start 2 is skip.... hmm need to fix that in the controls.ini.

Any particular reason why it's start 2 and not button 2?

Could be that way in the jamma pinouts for that matter (I'm not the expert) but I was just curious.

Here in OZ, the Leisure & Allied cabinet had:

Prologue Start - Player 1 Start
Epilogue Start - Player 2 Start

So, I am guessing that's why it's player 2 start button :D

Well, I'll try again, but I think that the time difference probably has something to do with it. Here in OZ when I get a chance to go on you guys are probably asleep - unless you're all insomniacs. Maybe me and Borf can just chat among ourselves. All I get at the moment is the sound of crickets chirping :) Unfortunately I can't access the site from work because it is blocked by the server.

Is there a good time to go on when there is a lot of activity? If I know this then that's my best chance of getting an answer. And I'll try to be a bit more patient this time....

Hey Merlin, if you wanted to have a chat about it e-mail me your phone number (land line would be best) I have VoIP and costs me 10 cents Australia wide un-timed :D

e-mail can be found here: http://www.cliffrestored.zoomshare.com/0.html

Thanks mate. I'll give the chatroom one more chance tonight. It's now a challenge to get a response 8)

Otherwise, expect an email in the near future...

OK - I gave the chatroom another chance for a coupla hours - still couldn't see any chat.

Either I still haven't got the hang of this IRC thing, or there's a conspiracy against me.

Can someone please tell me straight out where I can get this version from, or is it a case of 'I can tell you, but I'd have to shoot you'.

This is the only thing holding me back starting the cabinet build. Surely someone has got the link to the holy grail version...

TIA..

Ah yes, it appears that you came into the chatroom when we were all asleep.

I am usually watching the chatroom regularly during the day in the USA, which I guess is around 15:00 - midnight "universal" time (UTC?). Not sure what that translates into OZ time ...

Success! :D

Managed to find a PC at work that could bypass server and went to site. Luckily it wasn't too late and Matt was on IRC and was able to help me with the problem.

Left work early and played around with Daphne and got it going. Few little issues to sort out, but it works.

Thanks again to Matt and everyone else for helping.

Let the cabinet building begin! :D
