Hi guys i used to be able to play daphne after a nightmare i figured it out with some help from this forum but then after about a few years of smooth sailing my computer crashed and then i lost everything: Now i've gotten my mpegs back but i almost completely forgot how to configure it to run, i've read but am still kind of clueless.. All this stuff is still greek to me but i want to learn it's just very frustrating after hours of trying i wonder if i'm close at all??.. well here are some error codes i got, i'm attatching an email i sent to a person morsybreyth bc his email is now defunct so with that said i will just paste, i hope i can get some feedback these games are so much fun i would hate to not be able to play them, thanks in advance for any help yall, it's greatly appreciated, thanks!!! ps sry for being such a n000b...

i tried to run cliffhanger as a test and it says it cannot initialize the player here is the code:

--DAPHNE version 0.99.7

--Command line is: C:\Documents and Settings\Omar Scanu\Desktop\daphne\daphne.exe cliff vldp -framefile C:\Documents and Settings\Omar Scanu\Desktop\daphne\Framefiles\CliffHanger1_Framefile.txt

--CPU : GenuineIntel 2600 MHz || Mem : 512 megs

--OS : Windows XP/.NET || Video : Intel Corporation 845 Embedded Graphics Driver

Set 640x480 at 32 bpp with flags: 0

Initializing sound system ...

Joystick #0 was successfully opened

Loading compressed ROM image cliff_u1.bin...8192 bytes read.

Loading compressed ROM image cliff_u2.bin...8192 bytes read.

Loading compressed ROM image cliff_u3.bin...8192 bytes read.

Loading compressed ROM image cliff_u4.bin...8192 bytes read.

Loading compressed ROM image cliff_u5.bin...8192 bytes read.

Framefile parse succeeded. Video/Audio directory is: C:/DAPHNE/Cliff/

Could not open file : C:/DAPHNE/Cliff/ch.m2v

Could not initialize laserdisc player!

Shutting down sound system...

Shutting down video display...

then i tried doing the same with dragon's lair and here is the error i get: another parse error:

--DAPHNE version 0.99.7

--Command line is: C:\Documents and Settings\Omar Scanu\Desktop\daphne\daphne.exe lair vldp -framefile C:\Documents and Settings\Omar Scanu\Desktop\daphne\framefile.txt

--CPU : GenuineIntel 2600 MHz || Mem : 512 megs

--OS : Windows XP/.NET || Video : Intel Corporation 845 Embedded Graphics Driver

Set 640x480 at 32 bpp with flags: 0

Initializing sound system ...

Joystick #0 was successfully opened

Loading compressed ROM image dl_f2_u1.bin...8192 bytes read.

Loading compressed ROM image dl_f2_u2.bin...8192 bytes read.

Loading compressed ROM image dl_f2_u3.bin...8192 bytes read.

Loading compressed ROM image dl_f2_u4.bin...8192 bytes read.

Framefile Parse Error

Expected a number followed by a string, but on line 2, found this: lair24.m2v(0x20 0x20 0x6C 0x61 0x69 0x72 0x32 0x34 0x2E 0x6D 0x32 0x76 )

Mpeg Path : C:/Documents and Settings/Omar Scanu/Desktop/daphne/mpegs/

---BEGIN FRAMEFILE CONTENTS---

C:\Documents and Settings\Omar Scanu\Desktop\daphne\mpegs\

lair24.m2v

---END FRAMEFILE CONTENTS---

You must specify a -framefile argument when using VLDP.

If you didn't, then this is the problem. :)

Could not initialize laserdisc player!

Shutting down sound system...

Shutting down video display...

and for another test i tried badlands: here's what happens... yet another parse error!?

--DAPHNE version 0.99.7

--Command line is: C:\Documents and Settings\Omar Scanu\Desktop\daphne\daphne.exe badlands vldp -framefile C:\Documents and Settings\Omar Scanu\Desktop\daphne\framefile.txt

--CPU : GenuineIntel 2600 MHz || Mem : 512 megs

--OS : Windows XP/.NET || Video : Intel Corporation 845 Embedded Graphics Driver

Set 640x480 at 32 bpp with flags: 0

Initializing sound system ...

It sounds as though you have one of two problems:

1. Your framefile is not in the right format

2. The space within the "Omar Scanu" directory is causing your grief. Though there are ways to get directories with spaces working, do not use them to avoid that potential issue.

Good luck.

It cannot open the file at this location. This is most likely because the file does not exist.

This framefile is not in the correct format.

A parse error means that the framefile contains one or more errors.

If you want to solve parse errors, give this framefile creator tool a try that I've recently written.

The "could not open file" errors mean that the file does not exist or else cannot be opened due to a permissions problem (which isn't likely, but still possible).

Glad you got it working hypnotize.

For future reference, though, HOW did you fix it please?
