Hats off to all those that put the DaphneLoader v2.1.21 together.
This is slick.
I've been out of the scene for a few months and came back to this!
Wow.
First game I tested in it was DL (obviously) and it played
perfectly (the video playback played entire scenes without cutting short
by a frame or two, and the movement timing seemed just beautiful)

Then I tried Space Ace. Worked for original SA, but when I tried SAE,
all the wrong video clips started playing in wierd spots. Shouldn't I
be able to use the same framefile for both versions of SA?
(And there are OVERLAYS in SAE? Cant wait to get this working!)

Then onto DL2. I cranked the "lives" up to 99 since I haven't played for a
while, and after 25+ deaths, I finished it. It played great.

Then I loaded up Cliffhanger. Looks like the hands/arm button is the same as the 'sword' button in DL, but I cant get the Legs button to
work. Is there some way to configure input for DLoader v2.1.21?

I cant find a way to map the 2nd button for cliffhanger. :(
What button is it by default?

Sorry, how did you get the 99 lives in DL2?
Thanks!

no problem.. had the same question when I heard someone else did
it...

When the game starts in demo mode, you have to hold SWORD and the #9 key
down to get into the 'setup' of the program.
(Where you can adjust lives, credits, run tests, etc...)

Hi,

DL2 Time Warp:

After the Demo of the Game Starts Up, Press and Hold the Ctrl Key and Press the 9 Keys (Non Keypad) to get into the Programming Options.

You can crank your Lives up to 99! :)

You can do the Same for SA '91, also.
But can only crank your Lives up to 9... ;P

Cliff Hanger:

Cliff Hanger originally used the Player 1 Start and Player 2 Start Buttons for the Feet Button, also.

Press Player 1 Start or Player 2 Start for Feet.

Playing this Game using the Computer's Keyboard makes the Game Play a bit akward.

Hope they will get to the Key Relocation Options for the DAPHNE Loader, soon.

Yours Truly,

Tony M. Victorino

End of line...

But I have Daphneloader 1.2, can you tell me where did you get that version?
Thanks!

Usually if you hang out in chatroom (you can get the link right off of
www.daphne-emu.com) you can get the link for the latest build there.
And its a great place to have a little interaction with some
experienced Daphne Folks! :)

Lord Victorino.
Thanks for the reply.

Darn.. the 1 and 2 player start buttons aren't going to help me in my situation.
(see pic)
Image
They are a "little" far apart.
So there is no remapping ability yet..? Ack.

I'm probably talking silly, but theres probably no way to fire up an old
version of daphne, and configure the control panel the way I need it....
Then copy some kind of generic Config program over to the new build?
Is there?

Matt/Chip any ideas on this?
Also any thoughts on the issue of my Space Ace framefile working for the
original SA, but not SAE?

You only need to use one of the two player start buttons. They are *both* mapped to feet, just like the original control panel.

yeah, it's time for a daphne cabinet. :) Two mame cabs side by side and no daphne in site?! sheesh.

are you using multiple mpegs? SAE tweaked the frame numbers for all the scenes, so they don't necessarily start at the same frame numbers. Check your log to see what frame it's looking for when a bad seek happens, and adjust for framefile accordingly. If you have a dvd as your source, just use dvd2daph and the framefile it gives you will work with both versions.

chip-
There are lots of "Daphne" references on these two machines.
On the marquee of the big machine, Daphne sits proud on one of the
billboards on top of the building (on the right)
On the smaller machine, a few of the laser disc charaters sit
around the MAME logo.
On the smaller machine, I have DL running as well (picture is kind of dark)

I will have to take a look at the log file.
I've never really looked at the log file too close so I may not know how
to decipher it...

I'd like to figure it out without having to re-rip all the video from the DVD
but maybe that is what I will have to do...

Yes, I'm only using 1 set of mpegs for SA and SAE so if SAE tweaks the starting frame numbers... I could see why it would be off.

Maybe I'll just re-map some buttons on my control panel, though then I have to remap in all the other emus as well... hmmmm....
Are there any other games besides cliffy that use 2 buttons?
Maybe its just not worth the hassle.

May I ask why there are two different versions of the loader, and why the newer one isn't the standard version, and why it's so hard to find?

Heh... don't worry... I wasn't complaining. Honestly though, I find the best CP for daphne use is somethign laid out like the originals. Giant "works for everything in Mame" CPs aren't the best option for daphne. So in that sense, it's time for a daphne cab! :)

lots... to name a few: Cobra Command, Begas Battle, Road Blaster, Astron Belt, Galaxy Ranger... etc.

The new one is still beta, and should be considered the same as a CVS version of daphne. (no official support yet)

Huggybaby,

I missed you by like 5 minutes yesterday when you came to the chatroom. If you want to come back and wait for a while, I will be happy to answer your questions when I return. People usually check the chatroom periodically throughout the day, but obviously aren't watching it constantly, which is why waiting is a good thing.

Thanks Matt!

Now I know that someone could see me. Like I said over there, IRC is quite strange to me.

Hey guys,

Sorry to be a wet blanket (hehe) but I think I need to lock this thread in order to be consistent with the message board rules, as much as I want to discuss it. I'd be happy to hold this conversation in the chatroom until it's time to release the final build.

Oh smashtvguy, if you are having problems getting to the chatroom, you can always try http://www.mirc.com or http://www.xchat.org.
