I have been using Dragon's Lair with 0.99.6 with no issues. When I upgrade to 0.99.7 using the same MPEG, framefile, and roms I have scratchy audio that sounds like when you play a dirty music CD.

I am using windows XP with a fast system so that shouldn't have any effect. I have tried changing some options in 0.99.7 but I can't get it to go away. With 0.99.6 everything would work with default options.

Dragon's Lair is the only game I have so I can't check any other games. I couldn't find anyone else with this problem, so I thought I'd ask for suggestions here.

Try different sizes for the sound buffer. A bigger one should help.

Any reason I didn't need to use the buffer with 0.99.6 but have to now with 0.99.7?

Maybe the default buffer settings are different sizes? What are your 99.6 settings?

I think the default size changed between 0.99.6 and 0.99.7 but don't remember for sure.
