Hey there, New to the site...and generally computer illiterate (not what you would call advanced anyway).

I would like to play Dragon's lair, the sequel and Space Ace. I have a MacBook.

-As far as I can tell, I can put the mpegs anywhere as long as I indicate where in the Daphne Loader/ Configurations tab, right? (I'm loading them into the 'Sound' subfolder. Is this OK?)

-Does this basically take care of it? I have specified Virtual LDP (MPEG/Ogg) in the configuration tab. Is there anything else that I'm missing?

Additionally, I would like to play Dragon's Lair 2 and Space Ace and I am not against buying the Mac version but I'm afraid it won't work correctly with Daphne. It was posted that one would have to have DVD-'Roms' for Daphne to operate properly. The only thing I see on the Digital Leisure site for Mac are DVD-Videos. WILL THESE WORK WITH DAPHNE? If so, does anyone know where I can get the MAC 20th ann. special edition for a good price? (I see the PC version amazon for $17.99 where the ONLY place I could find the mac version was on the Digital Leisure site for $60.00. Thanks to all.

You must specify a -framefile argument when using VLDP.
If you didn't, then this is the problem. :)
Could not initialize laserdisc player!

Shutting down video display...

Bit of a different problem going here..

According to your log, it looks like Framefile Parse Error
Expected a number followed by a string, but on line 2, found this: {\fonttbl\f0\fswiss\fcharset77 Helvetica;}

Your lair.txt file has been saved as a rich text format.
To fix it:
Open your problem file, copy the text. Close it, move it somewhere
you won't get it mixed up.. Put it in the trash, even, but don't delete it until you're sure the new version works.

Using a plain text file:
duplicate your logfile.txt, rename it lair.txt

(this is the least complicated way of getting a proper plain text file
to work with.. for some reason TextEdit doesn't have a plain text save as option)

open this copy. Paste the text, save (not save as..)
Replace the problem file with this new one..
placing it in the same directory as your media files..

To double-check:

when you look at in the Finder, you should see the first
lines of your file.

Otherwise, looks like you may have it set up but just in case, here's
my impressions on how the Mac (beta) version works.. you should probably get the beta mentioned on the main site's front page, use
that. it seems to display the game, where my 997 seems to only
show the scoreboard. but that's me..

Beta link (from front page)
http://www.daphne-emu.com/download/daph ... sx.dmg.zip

Now try running Daphine, but make sure
to run through the Config specific to DL, pressing the Apply button
each time, OK afterwards. You'll probably need to press the
"Configure Laserdisk Player" to set up the virtual ldp.

You may also need to set the 'find files' to manual and specify the
media location.. the part in the Configuration where it asks if DAPHNE should try to get them from the internets. Set it to 'No, I will install..'
and then click the browse button to find your media files directory, select lair.txt. As always, press 'Apply' then OK.

(In my case, I didn't allow it to connect to the net to download updates,
you have to click cancel a couple of times, then it should start running..)
