Similar to when running in Linux Daphne cant seem to find my 20th anniversary dragons layer DVD in TinyXP beast when I attempt to dragons layer or space ace.
Because Its merely XP with bits of software removed I'm assuming that all I need to do is download something from the Microsoft website to get it to work.
The problem Is I have no idea what.
Can anyone help me?

I'm not sure if this helps but the auto run feature used by many CDs and DVDs is disabled in this version of tinyXP(which is fine with me but I'm not so sure if its fine with daphne)

hmm well It clames to be a DVD.

the box said "now in one dvd!"
and the disk says at the bottom: PC DVD-ROM

Unless the box is lying to me I believe Its a DVD.

does the dragons layer 20th edition normally come on 3 cds?

I bought it off amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002MHEZU
It came as a DVD for some reason.
It seems to be official looking at the glossy box print and the printing on the dvd

I don't think you have an official version. If it truly is a dvd, then it appears someone copied the cd-rom version to a dvd (which was originally on 3 cd-roms) and sold it to you. I'd return it, and report the seller.

well the product was sold by amazon itself and It looks like the real deal so I don't think even if it is a forgery that there is anyone to report.
I'm still putting down that in my reason for return.
since its just 3 ripped cds do you think I could copy all the data onto my hard drive and just burn the correct cds myself?
If that were possible I wouldn't have to return the dvd!

that is definitely a forgery, I'm sad to say. :(

Unfortunately, the cd editions do not work with daphne.

Which link on amazon did you use? Are you sure you actually got it from amazon and not a marketplace seller? I can't find a listing for a 20th anniversary DVD-Rom at all.

That disc is fake...Im afraid the seller ripped you off. I would definately return and report to Amazon that someone there is selling copies of stuff that wont work.

My copies of the 20th cd and dvd sets do not have misspelled volume names.

The name of the disc is typed in by the person running the dvd scan program, so that's not an indication of a forged disc.

I have never seen that disc before so I am not going to come right and say that it's fake, but I would be curious to see what the other side of the disc looks like. Is it a certain color or just clear silver?

whoa wait... I may have jumped the gun. Here's a response I got from Digital Leisure:

"We did recently remaster our 4 CD DL20th to 1 DVD and that looks to be
it. Is the "Dragon slayer" on the hub?"

So it sounds like this is, in fact, a new legit product that hasn't even made it to Digital Leisure's own website yet. They sure fooled me. Sorry for the bad info.

What is actually printed on the hub (The inner ring of the disc)?

Well In that case I may not have to return it!
Thanks chip!
I guess I'll just have to wait for you to update daphne to support the new dvd right?

I would still return it and ask for the real DVDs. If what im reading into this is the original cds are now just on 1 DVD. THe files are still cd format and not DVD format. YOur log doesnt show VOBs which are DVD format names.

Well i would return it and ask for the REAL dvd set. The original 20th DVD set was 3 DVDS which included: DL, DL2, and SA. They then released the set on cds which were on 4 cds. As we all know by reading the FAQ and the daphne wiki the cd sets are not able to be used with daphne.

So now it appears that Digital Leisure in its wisdom has taken that crappy 4 cd set which doesnt work with daphne and put all 3 games including the extra stuff on 1 DVD. Now it doesnt take a rocket scientist to wonder why the original 20th DVD set couldnt fit on 1 DVD. The video quality between the two is like apples and rotten tomatoes. The DVD original 3 disc set was the best the cd version the worst. It appears they sold you the worst on a single DVD..

If you want a quick resolution to this problem, then I wouldn't wait.

Ok so I'm returning the DVD could I get a link to a good vendor who will sell me the right version? I would do it myself But I'm afraid I'll get the wrong product again.

I think you are forgetting that the DVD set was made for home dvd players, and the CD set was made for PCs. They are different markets entirely. And while the video quality might be worse on the cd set, it blows away the dvds as far as gameplay is concerned.

What was the resolution to this - Wait? - I have the same exact disc. I insert the disc and all i get is death scenes and Daphne wont recognize it to the auto download and configuration wont happen.

Did I just waste my money and if digital leisure is putting this DVD out why the hell isn't supported.

To me it was a waste of money for them to do this but im not in charge of their company. DId you try the scan thing for matt?

Remember: Daphne isnt owned by Digital leisure and matt doesnt get a paycheck from them so its really not his or Daphne's fault that it doesnt for now work with that DVD, so if you would please refrain from the swearing... Thanks and lets game on....

I'll be clear, my frustration isn't with daphne at all. I think any person doing work on a emulator is a god.

I'm upset at Digital Leisure because their selling a product that doesn't work right out of the box without daphne. The fact that is doesn't work with Daphne is THEIR mislabeling problem.

My fault for cruising.... but if you spend money and NOT go to the torrent sites and try to do the right thing just to get a game that doesn't work... I feel a little miffed.... wait..... is miffed ok?

Tj.

Well - it's not Digital Leisure's fault either. They made a marketing decision to place the CD-Set on DVD-ROM. It is not up to Digital Leisure to have it's releases be supported by Daphne.

I recommend buying the 20th Anniv BOX set (3 DVD Set)...and maybe you can get a credit if you return the one you currently have.

I'm not going back to DL

This is from the FAQ's

Quote:
Which DVD's To Buy?

You can buy these games on Ebay, in some retail stores, and directly from Digital Leisure. Digital Leisure marks some DVD-Videos as Playstation 2 or XBox compatible, which basically just means that they will play in any DVD player.

Dragon's Lair
Try the 20th anniversary edition.
This single boxset will allow you to play Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair II: Timewarp, and Space Ace with Daphne.

Thats what I thought I bought.

This is a ebay link given in the wiki - http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?satitle=dragon%27s+lair+dvd -

what ones will work?

Thanks -
