I know this is a year old reply, but since the new kaspersky 2010 still has a beef with this I thought I'd chime in.
Matt: The engine is a paid for, legal and widely used application. It sits at the top of a very short list of top-end internet security suites as reviewed by IT professionals and reliable review sites/magazines. These guys consistently win in shootouts for most threats detected. I contacted several of the support folks at kaspersky and you are absolutely correct. It puts up a red flag because par-io.dll has trojan-esque behavior...namely the low level parallel port access.
Themonkee: Helpful post there. Gee why would I want a security software that actually intelligently analyzes possible risks and has one of the lowest memory footprints out there? After years of using Norton, McAfee, and some free security suites I switched to Kaspersky and couldn't be more pleased.
