Using a real laserdisc player isn't really recommended anymore, and you will definitely have problems playing Esh's or Super Don on a real laserdisc player.

Space Ace (euro) doesn't work. I guess I can add a warning message if one doesn't exist already.

I just tried out the new beta, and it appears that you can only use the keyboard (or keyboard based encoder) for input. Are there any plans on offering joystick (gamepad based encoder) support?

Looks like I will have to use joy2key to get this working, but I would rather just have native joystick support.

Or.. am I just missing something? Hopefully?

Thanks!

Otherwise, looks great!

Well, let me be more specific: it does not appear to work with Groovy Game Gear's GPWiz gamepad encoder. This is being used in a real arcade cabinet, and that's the encoder I use to interface with the computer. Has anyone else been able to get it working without Joy2Key?

I've had great success using an I-PAC2. It required no configuration for the sword buttons. I initially had some issues with the PS/2 version, but that was resolved by swapping it for the USB version.

The I-Pac is a keyboard encoder. As far as the computer you are using is concerned, your joystick is actually a keyboard. I was wondering if Daphne truly supports actual joysticks and\or gamepads...

No offense, but since all the Laserdisc games run off digital controls, I don't understand why you would want joystick support?

The X-Arcade joystick works great. Yes, I understand it's using keyboard functions... but it behaves exactly like the controls from the arcade machines the emulator was built for.

Can you explain why analog support is needed? :-?

My joystick is digital as well. The real question here that everyone so far is missing is, does Daphne support anything but a keyboard based controller?

Hello,

Roadblaster has run fine for me in the previous version of Daphne but now with the newest release, I get an error telling me that I am missing 02.bin from my roadblaster roms.

I would have posted this in Tech support but I have no access there. Can anyone help me get this game run again? I looked everywhere but there is just no 02.bin

I have the same problem. Mach 3 also gives me a problem - it's looking for another file in the zip as well. Are there updated ROM files that we need for the new version?

hav0k and ultimatepump,

I appreciate the convenience of being able to ask questions like this and get a human to respond, but it would help me (and other out) if you would try harder to use the resources available to you to answer this question yourself. I know for a fact that the answer to your question is on this site somewhere (with a little bit of work on your part).

Thanks for your understanding, guys...

Hav0k: your GPWiz is just like an I-PAC, just like a keyboard. They function the same. If it's working for mame, if it's working in Windows, it should work for Daphne.

No, it is a 32 input USB gamepad as far as Windows is concerned. I believe you are thinking of the KeyWiz, which is a keyboard encoder.

So, I guess the answer is no, Daphne does not support a true gamepad or joystick...

Matt - the only thing I could find (before I even chimed in that I get the same error as ultimatepump) is to disable ROM CRC checking. This didn't work for me. Otherwise, my search-fu is not working...

Daphne does work with a simple joystick (or gamepad) but this hasn't been tested that much. I think Lord Victorino has tested it fairly recently and found it to still be working.

Regarding the ROM issue, have you read the FAQ recently? It's been updated and I think it may help you.

If people need a dvd to 'validate' the torrent files for game use, why does it matter if DL approved them?

Because Digital Leisure owns the rights to Space Ace, Thayers and the Dragon's Lairs.

I must admit that it is a really good way to make sure that the company doesn't file a lawsuit.

.........file a lawsuit from what? Buying their product and then using it to enable gameplay through Daphne on your own computer?

What about DL2? I'd really like to use my LD with my Pioneer LDv8000 with this new version. Will it be possible? What are the improvements in DL2 (coming from 0.99.7)?
Thank you!

Sorry, one more question: can I run Daphne in DOS with the usual command line and with no Internet connection? )I have now already downloaded all the files I need) (I have a real LD player)
Thank you!

I do have a problem with this latest version of Daphne.
I'll post it here because I can't post in the other sections.
I have a Pioneer LD-V8000 connected to the PC and a DL2 (second edition) LD.
When I run the daphneloader I get some problem about a key encryption... but I press Enter and it works...
Now when I try to run the game, it says that the player is not ready (the player IS ready). In fact, as soon as I rerun it, it works perfectly.
Now, why is that? I also tried to use the command line, bypassing the launcher, but it gives me the same problem.
Version 0.99.7 worked the first time.
I'm trying to build an arcade machine, but with these problems I need to keep a monitor and a mouse ready every time I run the game...
I appreciate your help!
Thank you!

Yes, the serial LDP drivers were changed some years ago (after v0.99.7) and never tested so I am not surprised that the Pioneer driver has problems. I'll make a note of it.

Hello

first of all gratz for the effort you made in developing daphne.

Anyway, as you might alredy got looking at my nick :D can you please share with us the code of the latest version ? i can't find it on the website (cvs maybe?). I've tried to find some options or similar tweaks to disable all the network traffic that daphne generate ( privacy matters ! sorry but having my OS info harvested for statistics... well, shouldn't daphne ask for that ? The only license i see is the Gnu GPL v2 , and of course there' s nothing about harvesting datas. ) but i couldn't do it. Even disabling autodownload and such, there are still some packets to 166.70.135.167 . I've set my firewall to drop all the outgoing packets to that ip address, however daphne refuses to run if firewalled, both with daphneloader and daphne via cli .

If you don't want to distribute the code, can you at least put an option to stop daphne roaming on internet ? i'd like to use it offline, too.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

The website states if you don't want to send statistics to the server then add -noserversend to the command line. Make or edit a shortcut and add that line to the end.
