Hi, Ive got hold of an original Thayers Quest and wondered if the quality would be better if i ripped it off the original DVD rather than use the downloaded files. If so, is there a program like DVD2DAPH that does it? I have DVD2DAPH v3 but heard there is a V4 but cant get hold of it incase that can do it.

thanks in case anyone knows.

dvd2daph is outdated and no longer supported. It's functionality is now redundant due to the auto-downloader.

The downloaded version of TQ will give you the best version of the video you can find. In fact, a dvd2daph type utility couldn't work for TQ, as all the menus were changed on the dvd.

Thanks for the info chip....that leaves me with one question tho....
Ive ordered the 20th anniversary editions of DL, DL2 and SA. i would like to use the best possible version of the video like a dvd rip of those discs. Does the auto downloader use video ripped from these 20th anniversary editions or will i still be playing the older dvd versions from the downloader even tho ive authenticated them with my original 20th anniversary editions??

The best possible versions for use with Daphne are donwloaded automatically. You will get the prototype footage with Dragon's Lair AND you also get to benefit from a recapture of Dragon's Lair II (which looks great). The videos were captured from the actual laserdiscs - no video was taken from DVDs.

(Besides - DVD2Daph is not even supported)

Layer's right. Don't be fooled into thinking a dvd rip will look better than a quality laserdisc capture.

Sounds great. I thought the whole problem was the fact that getting the laserdisc captures was a difficult task due to the lack of existing laserdiscs and kit to read them. Id also heard that the best versions of the games to get were the 20th Anniversary versions for use with mame but cant understand why that would matter now anyway.

Thanks both for taking the time to put me in the picture.

regards
Craig
