I had forgotten about this thread. I did manage to get Dexter working with these Data East PCBs.

Re: New USB drive for Dexter

Hi all, I work in an arcade where we have a Dragon's Lair machine running a Daphne board. The USB drive currently plugged into the board appears to have given up the ghost (can't even read from it using dd in Linux). I tried formatting a new USB drive as FAT32 in Windows and plugging it in with Dex...

Re: Problem booting my DL2 with Dexter

If the pulse light isn't blinking, that could mean a loose connection between the Raspberry Pi and the Dexter PCB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AixbT6OEm7c You might also want to try replacing Dexter's SD card as some people have had those fail after a few years. https://www.daphne-emu.com:9443/me...

For those following this thread, the problem was with the Dexter firmware. I issued a firmware update today with the bug fixed.

Re: Strange Us vs Them + Dexter behavior

A few things to try... 1) When it has failed for you, while it is in the middle of doing the looping search attempt, try hitting the Dexter RESET button. It's located under the Raspberry Pi near the power jack. Report back with results. :) 2) Does the mach3/uvt boardset have a reset switch on it? If...

Re: dexter in time traveler

We're thinking to do this on Monday, the 25th of this month, starting between 12:30 and 1pm EST. Then we will need to wait for it to do it. Will we need to alert you when it happens? That works for me. I've got it on my calendar. If you wouldn't mind dropping a note when you've hooked it up, then I...

Re: dexter in time traveler

We installed dexter in a time traveler game, and it worked great for a while. Then we noticed it would start beeping after being on for a little bit, and customers couldn't play the game. We have it set on free play. We have to reboot it to get it working again. This happens several times a day, an...

MACH 3 problems (from customer email)

Steve says: Hi Matt: I installed the recently shipped Dexter installed in my MACH 3 arcade game. The game powers up properly. The game already had a pre-existing 110VAC plug inside, so the Xfmr power supply for dexter was plugged into that existing plug for simultaneous power up per dexter manual r...

Re: To heat sink or not to heat sink?

I put a small adhesive heatsink on Pi CPU. I noticed when running the ALG multigame I built in our wherehouse when it was very hot and no AC, the video started glitching and slowing down. The Pi throttles clock speed if it gets hot I think. You can get small adhesive square heatsink at Mouser. This...

most likely that message that you saw was a "red herring". We can't know what problems your game might have since we are not omnipotent. However, we can discover whether the game is properly communicating with Dexter, which is a good starting point. Check out the videos I posted here: http...

Almost everyone has a Dexter rev 3f which has the ground fix. The revision is printed on the bottom PCB near the reset button, underneath the raspberry pi.
