Is anybody else getting this problem whilst using the enhanced roms for Dragon's Lair?

(I am using mpegs converted from the DVD rom)

In the dragon's lair, after grabbing the magic sword, if I make a wrong move I either get the scene of Dirk being hit by the Dragon's tail (no problem), or I get the scene of Dirk grabbing the sword again (for a second time) instead of seeing Dirk getting toasted.

Is this an error in the roms or am I the only one getting this problem.
I have tried with both versions of the roms.

This problem doesn't happen with the non-enhanced rom sets.

Probably a problem with the framefile.

You wouldn't see that happen using one contiguous mpeg of the entire dragon's lair disc. That's the problem with splitting the files up into multiple segments.

Willpower, do you hear the audio while you see Dirk picking up the sword again? If you don't, it's a framefile issue.

I'm not pretty sure as I don't die in the dragon's lair like I used to do ;) but I seem to recall one death scene where Dirk grabs the sword and then gets toasted by the dragon, so maybe you're seeing the right thing...

If it's happening with only the enhanced roms, and not the f2 roms, then I highly doubt it's a framefile issue. After all, for the dvd-rom files, the same framefile is used for both standard and enhanced roms. We saw something similar to this issue once before, but it was due to pirated mpegs.

/me is suspicious.

I agree with Chip says, as the problem doesn't occur with the f2 roms then it can't be a framefile problem.

However, the framefile may not be the cause of the problem, but it is the solution.

By changing the lines in the framefile:

31298 dls38d3.vob.m2v
31346 dls38d4.vob.m2v

to:

31298 dls38d4.vob.m2v
31346 dls38d3.vob.m2v

then this sorts the problem out completely.

I just can't see why I seem to be the only person to have had this problem, or am I just the only one eho has noticed?

What I was getting was definately the wrong scene as I was seeing Dirk grab the magic sword when he already had it in his hand, now I have altered the framefile I instead get the scene of Dirk getting toasted with the magic sword in his hand, which is surely the correct scene.

It could be a framefile problem. If the enhanced roms seek to different frames than the F2 roms (and they do in some instances) then a framefile which works fine with F2 could fail with the enhanced roms.

I'll take your word for that then Matt, but I'm still confused.

I was using the framefile that came with DVD2DAPH.

Wilpower, you can help me troubleshoot this to see if it is in fact a framefile error.

Using an original unmodified dvd2daph framefile, play the game through to the scene that is giving you trouble.

As soon as the incorrect scene starts to play, press escape to quit daphne before the incorrect scene is over.

Then open daphne_log.txt and scroll to the bottom. Let me know what is the last frame number to which daphne performed a seek.

this bug has finally been fixed, thanks to Retropolis reporting the bad frame seek number. You can get the new framefile at the dvd2daph homepage:
