Hi,

i included now some more re-encode scripts for TmpgEnc and Virtual Dub. You can now use the following scripts.

TmpgEnc - 640x480 - Deinterlace - 29.97fps
TmpgEnc - 720x480 - Deinterlace - 29.97fps
TmpgEnc - 640x480 - Inverse Telecine + Deinterlace - 23.976fps
TmpgEnc - 720x480 - Inverse Telecine + Deinterlace - 23.976fps
Virtual Dub / TmpgEnc - 640x480 - Inverse Telecine - 23.976fps
Virtual Dub / TmpgEnc - 720x480 - Inverse Telecine - 23.976fps
Virtual Dub / TmpgEnc - 640x480 - Inv. Telecine + Deinterlace - 23.976fps
Virtual Dub / TmpgEnc - 720x480 - Inv. Telecine + Deinterlace - 23.976fps

You will need alot free hd space for the Virtual Dub / TmpgEnc way.
12 GB for Dragon's Lair and 17.5 GB for Space Ace.

I recommend to try the inverse telecine+deinterlace script first if you want to use Virtual Dub.

Read all instructions and the readme in detail.

You should *never, ever* IVTL and de-interlace the same stream. If it is IVTL'd correctly, de-interlacing is completely unnecessary and will only degrade the video quality further. Furthermore, IVTL should *only* be used if it is used correctly.

De-interlacing should only occur in situations where a correct IVTL is not possible, like the DL DVD-Rom. The DVD-Rom should *never* be IVTL'd. If you still do not have complete film frames after running an IVTL on one of the DVD-Videos, then the IVTL was done incorrectly in the first place. A de-interlace should *never* take place *with* an IVTL.

I'm not trying to slam Jerico, so please don't take offense. This isn't meant to be critical, but I need to warn people that this is clearly an incorrect process. I would advise everyone reading this to be extremely wary of the IVTL scripts. I haven't had a chance to look at them yet, but even the ones listed as just IVTL without deinterlace *may* be incorrect if the IVTL scripts are cut and pasted to/from the ones that use both. If I find this not to be true, I will post again in this thread to the contrary.

Jerico, if you need help understanding how IVTL works, don't be afraid to ask. A few of us here know a lot about this stuff.

you're completly right, chip. i let it to the users to try. that's all i will and can do. thanx for the help, i tried to find the correct offset in virtual dub, but with no luck. its a reconstruct from fields (adaptive) in. telecine. sure its no clean and right inverse telecine. the quality is still better than a inverse telecine only.

Jerico1111,

Your website appears to be broken...

FYI.

Ok, I admit I don't know anything about the reencoding process but I am using the ArcadeVGA card and used the Convvid2Daph v2.3 scripts on my DVD-ROM which did the IVTL + Deinterlace - not sure which fps it gives.

After reencoding I was able to play DL & SA much better with h/w acceleration disabled (ATI driver problem) with a slight dropped frames problem.

My question therefore is should I try the 'TmpgEnc - 640x480 - Deinterlace - 29.97fps' script as Chip says, stick with what I have already or are there any other encoding options that I should consider?

BTW thanks Jerico1111 for your work on v2.3.

Ed

Sorry, the server is temporary down, again. It happens from time to time.

Edwoodjnr, its up to you. Test the scripts and see what gives better results to you. Sorry for this unclear answer. If you ask me, i would say that both tmpgenc scripts are good, but not everyone is sharing my opinion.
