What is the standard key for using the sword and jumping in daphne???

I am not able to get the sword with any buttons

Who can help me please??

if you use the loader then look at the key config

if not, there is a keyfile you can open in notepad.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using the loader and have looked at the key assignments as well as the dapinput.ini file and tried the keys listed but still can not use my sword. I can move, up/down/right/left just fine but can not seem do anything else.

PLEASE help a new person!! :-?

Have you ever actually played Dragon's Lair? Or any laserdisc game for that matter? These games aren't like normal video games. Pressing the sword button doesn't draw your sword. It only draws your sword if it's a scene that uses the sword and it's the exact right time to draw the sword.

Dl works on the principal that you have 6 buttons (up, down, left, right and sword) And when something flashes, your either move towards it by pressing the right direction, or kill it with your sword. It's timing based in that you can only press one key at a time and only at the time that the screen flashes (except on harder sections, but covering that will just confuse you).

Yes, I am one of the people that made this game popular spending hundreds of quarters on it in the arcades!

Let's make this simple, on the drawbridge sceen for example I fall through the hole, pull myself back up then try and draw the sword...NOTHING...I die. I've watched the raw mpeg2 file and know that you are supposed to draw the sword but it does not work. I have tried playing nicely and I have also tried pressing the button repeatedly yet still nothing. What am I missing?

Are you hearing any 'beep' or 'boop' sounds when you press the sword button?

If you hear them, then the button is working, and you have an error in your move sequence or timing.

If you never hear them at all when you press it, then you have a control configuration problem. Try deleting dapinput.ini from your daphne directory, this will make sure you are using the default keymap. You can press the left CTRL key or the SPACE bar for Sword.

that is the correct functionality. If you try to draw your sword after pulling yourself up, you will die.

You use your sword when you fall through the hole and a different move after you climb back onto the bridge.
