For the history buffs...

On the Space Ace 20th annv DVD there is a 10 minute segment where they are interviewing Rick Dyer about his "revolutionary" laser home computer system.

Does anyone know what this mysterious device became? Or was this the last time Rick Dyer was heard from?

In his interview for retrogaming radio at CGE 2002, Rick explained why the price was so high -- the original plan was to use RCA Selectavision (CED) players, which were pretty cheap, but RCA didn't come through. (CED players were on their way out for home movie use by that time.)

The only alternative were extremely expensive laserdisc players from Pioneer. This made the cost of the system prohibitive, so it never got much past the prototype stage. That's why so few Halcyon systems were made, and they are almost non-existant today...

The RDI Halcyon system is the Holy Grail of Laser gaming. They are extremely difficult to locate and if one did appear I am sure it would probably go for or double its original asking price.
The best thing about the Halcyon was that it was shipped with a special edition of Thayers Quest and you had the speech synth.
The future of the Halcyon was to operate all of your household devices much as integrated systems do today, Unfortunattely RDI went down the pan with the likes of the CD-I, Dyer is a genius that was never recognised.
If anyone comes across one of these babies let me know....
