has anyone tried any other dvd players to use with dragons lair 20th Ann. that doesnt have pauses? I mean this games been out for a while now for dvd . I figured there would be a great dvd player out there by now. I heard about the APEX. How good is that for dragons lair?

I noticed if you play on a PC with "Power dvd" theres no pauses what so ever, but I want to play using my console DVD player(with no pauses)

The answer is a firm 'it depends'.

The main reason players pause after each move is that skipping part of an MPEG-2 stream is a lot harder than a laserdisc (hence the parsing in DAPHNE).

However, DVD-ROM drives can spin faster than DVD-video drives, and can overcome this slight shortfall - the APEX is in essence a DVD-ROM drive with a DVD-Video controller.
