Post subject:  Dip Switch settings in DL2?

Aren't there any Dip Switch settings for DL2?
Cant remember if there were any or not - when
I used to work at Aladdin's Castle back in the good 'ol days.

I vaguely remember having 5 guys set on our machine,
but I see in Daphne, that there are no options.
3 lives seems to be default.
(yet?)
This is a killer come the un-continual levels... 1 or 2 dumb timing
mistakes... and its all the way back to the beginning... :(

The best I can do is 'continue' on the Beethoven level, and make
sure to make it thru on my first Dirk... then atleast I have 3 to kill
off towards the end....

If there were switches, did I miss something in the Daphne documentation
that answers my question?

DL2 uses an onscreen test mode to change the game options. To enter it press sword (default key 'space bar') and while holding it down press service (default key '9'). When you let go of both keys it should put you in service mode and there you can change the game options.

Well... cant get it to work... but now atleast I know there is hope.
I even 'Reset' my keys to default, and still cant get the game to
react when I make the keypress (space+9)

Any other hints?

I couldn't get it to work either. Has anyone successfully done this? And if so, what ROM version were you using?

Ok, I just looked at the 0.99.7 source. The service key was added after this version along with support for saving the NVRam. So for changing the DL2 options get a CVS version (though it will be unsupported) or wait for the next version of Daphne.

Longshot here,
If I make the change in a CVS version (which I was previously using)
does it save any type of file that I can move over and use
with the 'official' version of Daphne?
I doubt it, but thought I would ask...

I think I just found the answer to my question?

....which leads to one more question... which I don't dare ask....

(maybe if I turn my head and don't look at the screen when I type it...)

....when will we see the next release? (still NoT lOokIng...)

Ummm, is there an easy way of accessing the CVS version? I downloaded the files from the download section and tried to follow the steps through the online documentation section, but it doesn't seem to be working. Esp when I'm supposed to copy/paste cvs@cvs.daphne-emu.com:/cvs/daphnecvs. It doens't like what I'm putting in. I think I'm doing something wrong since WINCVS has changed since the documentation has been posted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Envisaged0ne,
I dont think the CVS downloads here on the site are what
you are after.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but those downloads are for
building your own version of Daphne, or a compilation of work that
has been done - -

There is a 'modified' CVS version of Daphne that is floating around
out there somewhere, but you wont find it on Daphne-emu site.

It plays DLII, but has its own set of minor issues.

That is probably what you are after.
I can't tell ya where to get it, simply cause I don't remember.

The Daphne Gods here (bless your souls) dont discuss anything
about other builds of the program that they didn't have
a part in... so you probably won't get much help around here on
obtaining any other 'clones' of Daphne.

Needless to say, I've seen it, used it - and its not worth the hassle
if you are having a hard time finding it.
You're probably better off just waiting for the next release of Daph.

Cheers.

I regularly release new builds of Daphne to the people who stay in the Daphne chatroom for them to test. If you stay in the chatroom, you can try a build that I put together on 29 Sep 2005 that has all the latest Dragon's Lair 2 stuff implemented including text overlay and the nvram stuff.

... define "stay" haha
I'd love to try another build for you - maybe I'll stop on by tonight and see if anyone is around during the Packer game tonight.
(Since the Pack probably won't do anything worth watching anyways...)

"Stay", meaning to stay connected to the chatroom on a regular basis. It may seem like a foreign concept, but it works :) Otherwise, if people only connect when they want to say something, the odds of people meeting up with each other are small.
