Post subject:  I have SpaceAce DVD-ROM (PC) and...

1stly, I bought this back when digital leisure came about 5 years ago or so... and i was running it on my w95/w98 machine with a hollywood magic card, the game was 'as awesome as the arcade!!'

Now, I moved onto WinXP, and the PCDVDROM game wont load/work at all, no matter what. maybe i didnt try absolutely everything there is to try, but i gave up over a year ago.

I heard of Daphne at a lan party I attended, where this guy had absolutely almost every laserdisc game with a custom made joystick, a real fanboy is all i can say.

Anyway, my main question is, can I use Daphne to revive my PC DVD Rom version of the game? If yes, does it support the .VOB files on the disc? Do i have to rename them to .MPG? I am a total daphne noob, as i have not even downloaded it yet...

Thanks for all responses.

Sincerely, Robert (Montreal Canada)

Ahh..ok, i read some more, I am now downloading and using (as we speak) the DVD2Daph 3.0 program to convert my SpaceAce DVDRom disc to daphne format...

will it work just after this? or do i still have to download and insert the SpaceAce Roms ? (the small 32kb files??)

i will post as I progress...

..later, gotta run some errands,

You do need the Space Ace ROMS to be able to play it via Daphne.

After some tinkering, I got it to work, thanks :)

Luckily I am a little savvy when it comes to managing files and folders, because:

1st- it wouldnt run from my desktop folder since it contained spaces in the path

2nd - I had to create the 'ace' subfolder in the Roms directory (folder) in order for it to work properly.

Here is my daphne_log.txt showing success:

--DAPHNE version 0.99.7
--Command line is: C:\Daphne\daphne.exe ace vldp -framefile C:\Daphne\roms\ace\ace_dvdrom.txt -fullscreen

Are you sure about this? Because I intentionally tried to fix all problems with spaces in filenames for v0.99.7 ...
