does anyone have a website that contains walkthroughs for the scenes at the different levels (EASY, HARD, VERY HARD etc). i have Daphne set to HARD. making the right move at the wrong time is enough to kill Dirk!. I'm having trouble with the Blacksmiths, get killed by the first sword every time (on EASY setting, SWORD is enough!)
and the other was the knight on horeseback!
i'm still trying to figure out what setting the original arcade was set to, way back in 1983?
regards,

You can find walkthroughs for easy and hard settings here:

<A HREF="http://www.d-l-p.com/community/moves/lair/easy.asp">http://www.d-l-p.com/community/moves/lair/easy.asp</A>

As for what settings "the original used," well, that would depend on the owner of the machine. Early on, most of the machines that I came across were set to easy. After the game had been out for a couple of years, the few machines I ran across were set to hard.

Do you understand what dip switches are? They are settings that were available on the original machine, but only the operator could set them, so you never had to worry about them as a player.

On the "hard level" Smithee, you have to wait a moment for the sword to come descending before you press sword. On easy you can press sword a lot earlier. You are probably pressing it too early.

On the black knight you have to move up when the little lightning zaps you or else you get electrocuted.

It helps to memorize the order that the scenes appear in so you are ready for them. Some of them require immediate reaction (sliding staircase).

cheers M@,
thanks for the info...
i've noticed that there is a pattern to the scenes?!
i thought there was supposed to be a random type nature for the scenes!
until the end of the game, when it makes you complete the scenes you messed up earlier in the game (if any)
regards,

Once again, from the Dragon's Lair Project:

<A HREF="http://www.d-l-p.com/tech/docs/sequence.asp">Scene Sequencing</A>

With some more information from Matt O. himself here:

<A HREF="http://www.xmission.com/~redflame/daphne/download/randomization.html">Random Boards Discussion</A>

Poke around the D-L-P and you can find out just about anything about how Dragon's Lair worked.
