Well, if you try to load the SA footage from an mpeg-editor (I use Mpeg Wizard), you get this : Whole video: 00:40:43:08 Animated video: 00:23:41:04 ............from 00:23:41:05 to the end.... BLACK! 17 minutes of nothing! why the hell ?!? Can we just cut the unecessary video and keep the m2v smaller than ever ? Or those 17 minutes of nothing, need to syncro the whole video ? ps: this is from the regular DVD-ROM to Daphne conversion with latest DaphneLoader (have all the originals), I can't compare with previous SA version cause they are splitted in multi-part .m2v footage (I mean the oldy and glory mpeg floating around years ago for 0.99.7 Daphne) See ya Orkocattivo |

Hmmm.... I just checked, and it does seem that there is 40 minutes worth of frames there. I have no idea how this happened. The important question is, how much disk space are the extra frames taking up? |

Were these encoded with a variable or constant bitrate? If a constant bitratge - it would definitely be a benefit to remove the frames. |

hope today to get freetime and handle this .m2v, cutting off the remaining 17 minutes of black video and see what happens... for sure the disk-space will be resized, but I haven't any clue about how much and if the video results in syncro with .ogg audio and .dat we'll see Orkocattivo ps: DL & DL2 seems ok, all the .m2v parts are filled of video/data (no idea about TQ coz it's the only DVD-ROM missing |

Personally, I don't think that more than 100MB would be saved and -for me - is a negligable amount. |

Here goes the results: Original ace.m2v Format MPEG-2 Size 640 x 480 (1.000 (square sample) Frame Rate 23.98 Frames/Sec Bit Rate 10000 kbps (Variable) Total Lenght 00:40:43:11 ( 2445.90 / 58643 ) File Size 1.01 Gb Clip Lenght 2445.90 Sec ----------------------------------------------------- Cutted ace.m2v - Format MPEG-2 Size 640 x 480 (1.000 (square sample) Frame Rate 23.98 Frames/Sec Bit Rate 10000 kbps (Variable) Total Lenght 00:23:41:05 ( 1422.63 / 34109 ) File Size 986.08 Mb Clip Lenght 1422.62 Sec Both fully working with latest Daphne. In fact, I think that bunch of megs cutted off does not complain the size of the video at all, buuuuuuuuuuuuuut this was just a test and we still asking why the hell all those minutes of black-video in the original DVD-ROM conversion. See ya folks! |

My file is from the official Daphne download release (as it's the recommended file). Congrats - but I'll keep my version. |

Orko, I was under the impression that you were complaining about the auto-downloaded version of Space Ace that requires a DVD to authenticate. But now I am not so sure. Can you please confirm or deny this? |

Sure m8, I confirm. It was meaning the DVD-ROM > authenticate conversion (if you need I could post the crc32 dat of my DVD-ROM) |

Congrats - but I'll keep my version. mine too, but as I wrote, there are several DVD-ROM version from Digital Leisure, and each one is decrypted from daphneloader (even if authenticated). Scan-proggy, does the right crc's check and reveals if you have a genuine or fake version. |

the DVD is used to unlock the footage Daphne uses - your file should be the same as everyone elses. If you are using Windows XP, is your file system FAT32 or NTFS? |

if you mean the .bf file, yes, but you need a genuine dvd-rom to decrypt (and I was referring those about "several versions") |

Like I said...It doesn't matter what DVD you use...the file that Daphne plays is the same for everyone - size included (this includes the decrypted files not just the .BF ones). I'm just trying to determine why the size variation of YOUR original file compared to mine - thus the question of either FAT32 or NTFS. |
