I tried out Daphne with Dragon's Lair (original) today, and just about everything seems spot on... except for the falling disc-platforms. The timing seems excruciatingly precise on these -- so far, I've cleared the jump exactly once, and the second time the scene came up finished my game.

I'm quite familiar with the arcade version and its timing, and it's not as if it's a particularly complicated section (just hit Left at the proper time)... Is there something I'm somehow missing here?

My system is an Athlon 1300 with a 32MB GeForce2 (Win98 SE), and the game seems to be running quite smoothly at all times, so it shouldn't be a lag issue. I'm running from an MPEG (Best Buy has the DVD, which I'll pick up next time I'm there), difficulty level is Easy. Well, easy everywhere BUT on this scene.

I just wanted to chime in that I also believe there is something amiss with the timing in this scene. The arcade was nowhere near this difficult. In fact, I can't even remember ever NOT making it through this scene on the original machine.

Is it possible that there is an issue with the sync between the Mpeg and the software? I am using mpegs extracted from the Digital Leisure DVD.

I really hope there is a solution to this, because this is ruining the game for me.

Update:

I tried the newest Daphne (had an older one), and played it on Easy, and I'm able to do the platforms OK now. I haven't tried it on Medium since the update yet.

Did something change with timing in the most recent Daphne?

Thanks,
Mike

Nope, the timing has not changed.

Must have something to do with the "Easy" setting. I'll do more experimenting. :)
