Can't update Dexter USB drive because it's read-only

Post by dig-doug »

Originally setup my Dexter using v1.0.17. Dexter Manager updated to v1.0.20, but when I try to update the drive I get the error "Unzipping failed: Creation of directory J:\/dexter/new_sys_files/ failed." I noticed if I click on properties in explorer the J:/Dexter folder appears to be read only.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Most likely, Windows has popped up another window (which might be hidden) saying that the drive has errors and needs to be scanned. Initiating this scanning process will put the drive back in read/write mode and you will be able to update using Dexter Manager. It seems like it is fairly common for Windows to consider the drive to have errors after Dexter has written to it, but I haven't found any evidence that the drive really has errors as Windows claims.
Check out my cool projects!

I had to let it "automatically" fix the errors that didn't exist to get it to clear the read only.

Thanks for the help.... I wanted to make sure I didn't trash my drive :)
