Matt may fix this problem in the near future but I wanted to share it for the minority of Linux gamers.
My DL2 DVD-ROM was not recognized by daphneloader and thus failed to convert the downloaded files. Matt suggested the reason for this is because of two hidden files that were not seen when I mount the DVD-ROM. After some brainstorming I found something that works in getting the loader to validate the disk:
First I had to use the
unhide option in /etc/fstab
Code:
dev/hdd /mnt/dvd auto user,unhide,noauto,ro 0 0
If you are reading this and have the same problem, this may be the only step you will have to do. If it doesn't work for you, then you will need to try the next step as well. I had to compile Microsoft Joliet support into the kernel. Here is the section I had to adjust with my 2.6.19 kernel. Just make sure it is selected.
Code:
File systems--->
CD-ROM/DVD File systems--->
<*>Microsoft Joliet CDROM extensions
After that, the loader worked perfectly..
*update* (..figured I would try some distros other than Gentoo.)
Edubuntu 6.06 LTS works with no problem. All downloads and validating worked without errors of any kind.
