You can find the new v0.99.7pre4 build in the download section of this site.

I've verified that all of the selftest.bat tests pass on the Radeon 9200 that Etumor sent me. I hope it also fixes the problem on the Radeon 9600 as well. This .zip file includes a new sdl.dll which you MUST use to fix the problem (so you must overwrite your old one).

A few other changes which I forget at the moment... samples in Dragon's Lair 2 are working again. No fix for the Mach 3 overlay problem.

I've also got a report that the Radeon 9250 is working too.

So I guess the big one we are waiting on is the Radeon 9600.

Btw for some reason that test mpeg really cracked me up. I know it's not funny, but still.

heh perhaps I spoke too soon.

I fired up mach3 to see if hardware acceleration works. It does, but now the sound system is acting up. daphne crashes hard whenever sound is enabled, regardless of if hw accel is on or not. I'd post a log, but it crashes just as it prints the line: "initalizing sound system" so there isn't anything useful in it.

Just un update, I tried dl2 and it's working fine. I think it's a mach3 specific issue.

Let me amend my previous statement. I did a clean install and this time all tests passed okay, no failures (again, Radeon 7500).

However, I cannot play any games without disabling hardware acceleration. I blame my card though, not Daphne.

on the contrary, it _is_ supposed to be funny. It cracks me up every time too.

It's from a little mini-movie my friends and I filmed in the early 90's. I've been toying with the idea of trying to turn those into a 'lasergame' somehow since we wouldn't have to worry about copyrights. Problem is... no death scenes :(

I think that would be great. I've also toyed with the idea. I've been thinking of using an rc blimp with a mounted wireless camera to make a parody of mach3. Pigeon bomber. ;)

Hi Matt,

Mach 3, Cobra Command in Mach 3, and Us vs Them sound crash.

It is probably the same problem for all.
DAPHNE crashes at sound int. on above Games.
Windows XP shuts down DAPHNE and says that an Error has occured.

DAPHNE log before crash:

--DAPHNE version 0.99.7pre4
--Command line is: D:\daphne-0.99.7pre4-win32\daphne.exe cobram3 vldp -framefile D:\DAPHNE\framefile\cc.txt -fullscreen -blank_skips -blank_searches -bank 0 01100111
--CPU : GenuineIntel 1500 MHz || Mem : 512 megs
--OS : Windows XP/.NET || Video : Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller
Set 640x480 at 32 bpp with flags: 80000001
Initializing sound system ...

Let me know when you get this Fixed.

Thanks.

Yours Truly,

Tony M. Victorino

Matt,

Just confirming what Lord_Victorino has mentioned. I've tried those three as well and it crashes here under windows XP (not sure if its relevent to you but the windows error points to ntdll.dll)

Daphne Log
-------------

--DAPHNE version 0.99.7pre4
--Command line is: D:\Emulation\Systems\Daphne\daphne.exe mach3 vldp -framefile D:\Emulation\Systems\Daphne\framefile\Mach 3.txt -fullscreen
--CPU : AuthenticAMD 2200 MHz || Mem : 1024 megs
--OS : Windows XP/.NET || Video : NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X
Set 640x480 at 16 bpp with flags: 80000001
Initializing sound system ..

Hope its a simple fix :-)

Ok the problem was I compiled new versions of daphne.exe and SDL.dll with Visual Studio .NET and I guess it didn't want to play nice with SDL_mixer compiled with visual studio 6. So I just recompiled SDL_mixer with VS .NET and uploaded it to http://www.daphne-emu.com/download/SDL_mixer.zip.

I also updated the pre4 .zip file with the new .DLL . So for those of you who already have downloaded pre4, you can just grab the new SDL_mixer.zip and tell me if it fixes your problems or not.

Well, it's an old card, that's all. I don't know if Daphne is officially supposed to work with hardware acceleration on the Radeon 7500.

Anyway, I tried the new sdl_mixer.dll and was pleased that Space Ace (A3) didn't crash on me immediately. However, about 2min into the game my hopes were dashed as the mpeg froze (sound continued) and then Daphne crashed. Dragon's Lair (Enh 2.0) crashed Daphne immediately and Dragon's Lair (Enh 1.1L) crashed it when I hit player 1 start key. All are fine with hardware acceleration disabled, as I verified afterward.

Works for me Matt, thanks!

And please don't beat me, but ....VS .net? M$ hasn't released such a red-headed step child since Windows Me! I had it on my system for a year before eventually downgrading back to vs6. :wink:

Hi,

This is Tony M. Vicorino.

New Bug on DL2 using DAPHNE pre4.

May be bug with DAPHNE, DL2, or Framefile problem.

I am looking into it, right now.

Here is what happened. On third Scene of DL2, through the looking glass.
The mirror is on the right side. After first Sword, during second move, I
pressed right. Game freezes in black, and makes buzz, dink, dink noise over and over again. Needed to exit DAPHNE. I've been able to do it twice
in two different games.

Here is the DAPHNE LOG:

--DAPHNE version 0.99.7pre4

Hi,

99.7pre4 is causing "Signal Over Range" issues on my ProphetView TFT monitor when using fullscreen on any resolution other than it's native 1280x1024.

I have also tested the latest beta release on an Iiyama TFT monitor without any problems on fullscreen, but I have noticed that the new build of Daphne is now adjusting the screen refresh rate when previously it would always run at the default refresh rate.

I was wondering if the change of refresh rate integral to the ATI fix, or is it an unexpected side effect that could be addressed (I am always nervous when refresh rates go over range because of possible damage to the screen).

The daphne_log does not report any problems, but if you want me to post any additional information please let me know.

As ever, many thanks for everyone's hard work on this excellent project!

deadkat38 (deadkat37 in disguise - you ain't seen me, right?)

External Scoreboard bug.

Pre4 reports an error when it tries to use my "real" scoreboard on LPT1. It worked properly on Pre3 and on earlier CVS builds. Log to follow:

For me it's ok, I have an ATI Radeon 9200 SE. I tried games like Mach3 and UsVsThem, all the overlays seems all right to me, there's no flickering. Here's my daphne_log of the selftest :
