Hi All...and thanks for the update to Daphne! I'm liking the newer options.

I'm not sure if this is a bug with the new pre-revision or not, but here it goes.

With previous version of Daphne, including the last v0.99.5, I was able to play Space Ace & Dragons Lair with Full Screen, using MPEG.

With the latest version, I get the error message in the error log stating that a file is missing that was not required before:

> Could not open audio file : \ROMS\LASER\DRAGLAIR/dl-slates.ogg
or
> Could not open audio file : \ROMS\LASER\DRAGLAIR/sa-slates.ogg

But I am able to run it just fine in windowed mode, I dont understand why the extra audio file is needed in full screen and not in windowed mode.

Any advice?
Thanks in advance!
- Mike

I couldn't get .99.6r4 to work on my system - dreaded ocx error. Went with .99.5 and it works fine.

I finally got things working with .99.5 with the ArcadeVGA card with .99.5. Now I tried out .99.6 beta and I can't get fullscreen to work. Just when the attract mode is about to start running it quits and brings my back to Daphne Loader. If I turn off fullscreen it works great. Any ideas?

I can't get full-screen to work at all. It just goes black and locks up my system. I have to hit reset every time.

For those of you who are looking for the files if you get the OCX error - here is a quick link with the instructions on how to install.

When I tried the latest prerelease with VLDP, the game started, but then the emulator exited immediately.

The log shows that this was due to the 'reject' command being sent to the LDP (sorry, I don't have the complete dump on me, but this was the only difference between pre release and 0.995)

I doubt that that's why it exited. The log may still prove useful :)

George, this type of bug report doesn't help at all. If you'd post your daphne_log.txt then I'd at least be able to see what kind of video card you're using and the exact command line you're using.

This type of bug report doesn't help at all because fullscreen works just fine for me and you haven't given me info about how your system is different from mine. If you'd include your daphne_log.txt file, I will probably be able to tell how your system differs from mine just by reading it.

hi there,

sorry if this is a repeat on the ocx issues, for win xp. i tried the link to download ocx in another thread, but it started downloading dvd2daph instead.

ive found a link people can use to download mscomct2 if they need it:

http://www.magente.com/m/CServ/download/mscomct2.zip

matt, is there any way this could be included in the ocx additional support files on the daphne download page? it doesnt seem to be included with the others.

thanks,

steven

Hey Steve,

Just noticed i linked to the wrong file in that thread. Trouble is, its locked now, so i cant edit it

Matt, any chance you could either delete the post i made, seeing as there now seems to be an online link posted by steve or editing my original post to link to mscomct2.zip at the same address?

Once again, my appologise to any and all who downloaded the file expecting the fix.

RCade

Right now I am not sure whether that addtional OCX file is really necessary. Perhaps there is a way to compile the .EXE such that the OCX file is not needed. Anyway, if it turns out that that OCX is required for sure, I will bundle it in with the others.

Try using the old SDL.dll from 0.99.5 and see if it works. The sdl.dll I have inside the 0.99.6pre4 zip file is my new one that fixes the ATI overlay flicker problem, and also the one I intend to use from now on.

Matt: I'd post the log file but the program locks up my entire system - I have to re-boot everytime and the log file is never written. :(

I tried the other SDL.dll, and couldn't find any difference.

I also methodically tried every other 'old' DLL, to no effect.

Is there anything else?

Matt, it's not an additional ocx file. I recently installed Daphne v0.99.6pre4 on a fresh Win98SE machine, and when I registered the usual ocx files and ran the Daphneloader and hit "Configure", it still complained about one ocx file missing. I had to download the newer mscomct2, and when I did register this file, things went fine.

I remember you were compiling the Loader under Visual Basic .NET instead of Visual Basic 6, so maybe you should try recompiling it under VB6, or simply add the newer ocx file for download :)

not sure what you mean by you couldn't find any difference. Are you saying that it still doesn't work in fullscreen mode but still works in windowed mode?

I meant, no difference in operation - both files seemed to be identical.

The only way I can get SDQ to work is in no ldp mode.

And yes, I have tried reparsing my video.

Correction - the problem was down to a corrupt video driver - the game now works in windowed mode, but not full screen.

I just went back and re-read your posts on this subject and I couldn't find any information about which version _does_ work in fullscreen for you. Has daphne ever worked in fullscreen? If so using what configuration?

99.5 did work in full screen, and still does, with the configuration above.

For reasons I can't fathom, 99.6pre4 definitely doesn't, but only on games with an overlay i.e. Dragon's Lair works, even with the 'scoreboard'.

I've now tried ensuring hardware acceleration is disabled - this makes sure that 0.995 works in full screen, but the new version still doesn't

I include the two logs here:

Same problem here, Daphne plays ok with 0.99.5 in full screen but not in a Window. 0.99.6pre5 is the opposite, works ok in a window, not fullscreen. Here is the 0.99.6pre5 log for astron belt:

--DAPHNE version 0.99.6pre5
--Command line is: D:\DAPHNE\daphne.exe astron vldp -framefile D:\Daphne\framefile\astron_framefile.txt -fullscreen -nohwaccel
