Hi Everybody,
I managed to get DaphneLoader working under Linux and thought I'd
post a quick HowTo for anyone else who may want the GUI under Linux.
This Worked Fine For Me, but only try this at your Own Risk.
You are responsible if you hose your system.
I am using Crossover Office wine converted from a Xandros .deb to a
.rpm using alien on a Xandros 1.1 installation
I havent tried plain wine, but winex3.1 DOESNT work, at least on my
system anyway. The Linux version is Mandrake 9.1 with Kde 3.1.3 and
Im assuming you already have linux Daphne all set up and working
This is what I did, Your Mileage May Vary,
Download Daphne0.99.6-win32.zip and extract it into its own folder.
Copy the following folder & files from within this folder into
your Linux Daphne folder;
The 'images' folder
zlib.dll
vorbisfile.dll
vorbis.dll
SDL_mixer.dll
SDL.dll
ogg.dll
DaphneLoaderInfo.ini
DaphneLoader.exe
You may also need to copy in vldp2, but wait and see if it works first.
Do a google or Windows-drive search for these files ;
MSVCIRTD.DLL
MSCOMCTL.OCX
MSCOMCT2.OCX
MSVCP60D.DLL
......and copy them into your Linux Daphne folder.
make a copy of your linux daphne executable somewhere and rename it
to daphne.exe, then copy it back into your Linux Daphne directory.
You should have daphne and daphne.exe in there.
If you are using Crossover Office wine, you can make a link to
DaphneLoader.exe on your Desktop and use on the execute tab
'/opt/cxoffice/wine /home/Daphne/DaphneLoader.exe'
If all goes well you should now be looking at the DaphneLoader GUI
If not,
try running it in a terminal and see what files it needs, find
them and copy them in with the DaphneLoader stuff. (You might like to
copy them into your wine system32 directory too...I did do this).
Now, you need to either manually type in your paths in Configure, or
Browse to them, then change all the \ to / and get rid of the Windows
Drive letter, ie C: so for example, 'C:\Daphne\mpegs\ace\sa-slates.m2v'
becomes '/Daphne/mpegs/ace/sa-slates.m2v'.
Do the same for Framefiles.
The games should now Play correctly from the DaphneLoader GUI.
Edit: September 22nd
Ok, I had the chance to totally crash and re-install my system..so I took it
Nothing I did could get DaphneLoader running again as per above instructions. However, when reloading everything, I remembered a step I left out of the above, I did a Install of Office2000 using Codeweavers Crossover Office version of wine.
Also, During the re-install, I tried the latest version of plain wine and it wont work.
Neither will crossover without a Office2000 install ??? Im guessing its somehing to do with runtimes or such, but after installing Office2000, DaphneLoader ran OK again.
