So if I have the latest Daphne on 1 PC with DL/DL2/SA all working, and I wanted to copy everything to work over to another PC, what is the procedure now? Can I just copy and paste my entire Daphne folder over to another PC?

I burned the entire contents of my Daphne folder to DVD and attempted to transfer it to a different PC. It copied most of it, but absolutely refused to move a few files in the vldp_dl folder.

Thanks for the awesome advice. Mr. P4! You sure know your stuff. Next time I have a question on this board, I'll head directly to you.

copying should work, although burning to dvd and back will change the read-only attributes on the files. You'd be better off transferring directly, or zipping the files up if you must transfer via optical media.

After copying, the only issue will be that daphne will ask for your Digital Leisure DVDs again.

I've added a FAQ entry on this subject.

Hey guys, this had been working until recently. I copied the contents over to another DVD-ROM drive "less" computer in my house and now it's asking for the DVD's. Unfortunately, my son's PC has only a CD ROM drive. Did something change to prevent being able to copy the contents to a PC via network, and run without the DVD's?

you'll either have to temporarily hook a dvd-rom drive up to your son's pc, or temporarily move his hard drive into your pc to unlock the files. good luck.

In that FAQ (I think it should be here: http://www.daphne-emu.com/site3/faq_entry.php?id=57) there is a comment by SmartyPants, about deleting *.bf files if .m2v and .ogg are already available.
I verified that, at least for space ace, all works fine, but daphneloader (I think) tries to allocate (or download?) the *.bf files again, wasting by that way a lot of disk space.
There is something to do to prevent such a disk space wasting?

Post like Francos make me kind of sad and want to just quit. Leaving the .bfs up means you are doing your part to share files. I for one am to the point of shutting down my side of serving as all i see are "leeches" getting the files and leaving. Only coming back when they need something.

Maybe im reading too much into this and if i am then im sorry.

(did you mean francesigo?)
Please, don't be sad, my darling...
I'm a newbie with Daphne and I simply didn't understand the purpose of leaving those files up, and actually I am out of disk space.
I actually think that Daphne is great stuff, and I understand that if I'm now able to enjoy games such as DLair an Space Ace it is not for my merit.
So, don't be sad: thank you for reply and... just don't think that all of the posts like the mine come from "leeches".
Cheers.

The .bfs files and file sharing really isn't explained anywhere, in the FAQ or in Wiki. I was wondering why I had to spend so much time downloading stuff if I already had the DVDs. I didn't understand about it somewhat until reading about it here.

Well, starting from the Daphne home page, clicking on "FAQ and Documentation", that file transfer info is not in the FAQ and it is not in "Daphne Doc Wiki". I don't know what page links to the FileTransfer Wiki, but thaks for showing me. Things are kind of all spread out, I guess. I'm new, still coming up to speed.

Any thoughts on my Daphne DL being too fast/choppy vs. more playable using the DVD player/remote? The way it starts up under Daphne doesn't seem right. I posted my log file in a separate topic in this forum.

Thanks,

Kenaan

In the Daphne Doc Wiki - You must scroll down to where it says Download Details (in the Advanced Information section) - click the link - and you will find the info Matt linked you to.

I'll try to keep the loader active in order to benefit the file sharing from now on.
