I have a feeling that if I can offload the video decoding to the 2nd cpu, that I'll have enough cycles on the main cpu using my own z80 core. But if I do still need more, I will check out drz80. The reason I'd prefer to use my own is to keep the source code portable, instead of having to have a bunch if #ifdef GP2X's everywhere (which I've already inserted in quite a few places).

Understood. It would be nice to have the source to GPH's version of mmplayer to examine. They do all of the video decoding on the second CPU. Since the mmplayer source wasn't released with the rest of the kernal source, I'm not so sure we'll ever get it.

Ah well... Keep up the good work. Since my coding skills are, at best, rusty, I'll offer to help by testing stuff out when you're ready. LMK

Very interesting progress so far. I look forward to the final result for those who use the GPX2.

I just wanted to log in to root you on... I think that Daphne could be the best thing to come to the GP2X yet! Cheers!

Any progress on the GP2X port since May?

Don't mind me, I'm just curious to see if things are still progressing or if it's been put on hold for now.

I was blocked on a few issues, so instead of just waiting, I decided to go with phase 2 of my plan and let donators vote on what I work on next. I do plan on resuming gp2x development.

Here is some good news for everyone.

I've resumed working on GP2X development again and made some good progress. I've got Dragon's Lair playing at a good rate without sound; if I enable sound, it is a bit too choppy to be playable. I'm still looking at ways to take advantage of cpu #2.

Before a bunch of you volunteer to help test, I don't need any help testing right now because I haven't finished development and can find plenty of flaws doing my own testing.

I've committed all my GP2X tinkering to SVN (https://www.daphne-emu.com/daphnesvn/trunk) but it is very disorganized since I have been experimenting with different things to try to increase the speed.

Is Daphne an abandoned project? I read in the archived forums talk about Time Gal and Ninja Hayate.

I'm still sitting on version 1.0-2.2.7 but I see screenshots of 1.2 ??

looking at that picture, the 2 looks different white than the other numbers so it may be photoshopped.

I would donate to keep the project going, but I don't have a job right now. :(
